Thrifty Thursday...Quick and Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce

Quick and Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce

I'ts Thrifty Thursday!  For my new readers...I try to post something "thrifty" on Thursdays to help our lives run a little smoother and save us some money at the same time.
I was reading Megan's blog a few days ago and came across this recipe for homemade pizza sauce.  At my house we usually have homemade pizza about once a week, but I'm always open to new pizza sauce recipes as I'm not really fond of any red sauce.  However, Megan's recipe is easy and looks appetizing, so I think I'll give it a try and see if I like it!  I love that it has few ingredients, ones that most people have in their pantry already, plus it's healthier since there aren't any preservatives in it!  Now that's what I call "thrifty!"

Reminder...End of the month! Print your coupons now!

It's the end of the month already!  Where did March go?  Remember to take a look at your favorite printable coupon sites and print the coupons that you want today before they re-set.  I suspect that they'll start re-setting soon, so hurry and print them now!  Here's a few sites you might check today:

Kroger...Nationwide change in coupon policy

I find it interesting that this just came out since we had a discussion at last nights class about ethical couponing.  As I taught last night, and as many of you know, the goal of the manufacturer was NEVER to allow 2 manufacturer coupons to be used on 1 product.  Unfortunately, the computer systems weren't set up (and quite frankly, I think this was an unforeseen isssue) to tell the different between an eCoupon and a paper manufacturer coupon.  Therefore the computer systems were allowing BOTH an eCoupon and a paper manufacturer coupon at the same time.
I've gone over and over this in my classes and predicted that one day it would happen and here it is...

Kroger (and I'm assuming their affiliate stores such as Dillon's) will NO LONGER accept an eCoupon and a Manufacturer coupon to be used at the same time on a product.  The computer system is now set up to reject a paper coupon if it detects that an eCoupon is also used.  Read the complete policy change HERE.

On another note, I'm sad to announce that Kroger's located in Houston, TX. will NO LONGER double or triple coupons.  It's a very sad day for our coupon friends there.  My fear is that this could trickle down the line and possibly be headed our way.  PLEASE..if you're serious about coupons email Kroger and let them know your opinion on this matter.  I personally believe it's a HUGE mistake and will bite them in the end!  They've already shut down comment on their Facebook wall so that has to be a good sign that our voices are being heard.  : )

Plug for Vocalpoint

Vocalpoint

If you're new to couponing and haven't yet heard of Vocalpoint you definitely want to sign up to receive their emails.  Vocalpoint frequently sends samples (some times full size) for their members to try.  Those samples almost always are accompanied with some really high value coupons for those products.  I can't even think of how many things I've gotten free because of my Vocalpoint coupons and who doesn't love samples?  Once you're signed up be sure to look around the site and become familiar with it.  Those that visit more frequently and contribute ideas seem to get more things in the mail!  :)
